Microbiology major Tuhina Bhar is more than 7,000 miles away from her home in Ahmedabad, India, a city of more than 5 million residents. On track to graduate in the spring of 2024, Tuhina has her eyes set on a career in research when she wraps up her studies at WSU.
From Spokane, Washington, and a graduate of Mead Senior High School, Emily Mattson is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in microbiology with a minor in criminal justice. While she initially had set her sights on being a doctor, when she graduates in the spring she now dreams of a career in the FBI.
Neuroscience student Emily Berry came to WSU and the College of Veterinary Medicine to do something she has dreamed about since she was a little girl – study the brain.
Between studying and getting time on the water, Ilaria Macchi leads a busy life. From Koper, Slovenia, Ilaria is pursuing a degree from WSU’s College of Veterinary Medicine in biochemistry while also competing as a member of the Cougar rowing team.
Nolan Middleton plans to graduate with a pair of degrees in genetics and cell biology and theoretical mathematics this coming spring before continuing his education in graduate school. From Ephrata, Washington, Nolan graduated from Ephrata High School while also earning credits at Big Bend Community College in Moses Lake through the Running Start program.
The Nairobi program, offered for the first time this summer, is meant to enhance students’ technical expertise while supporting ongoing studies by WSU’s Global Health Kenya program.
