Hometown: Federal Way, Washington

Undergraduate Degree: Animal science (WSU)

Area of Interest: Small animal general practice

Hannah Manzo’s love of caring for animals first took root at McMonigle Veterinary Hospital, where she worked as a kennel assistant during high school under WSU alumnus Dr. Rob McMonigle (’98 DVM).

“I grew up watching Dr. McMonigle care for my childhood dog, Angel, and, later on, my dog Otis. Working alongside him and his amazing team, I realized being a veterinarian was something I could see myself doing, and I applied to WSU,” she said.

Now focused on small animal general practice, Hannah is committed to building lasting relationships with clients while keeping their pets healthy and happy.

“The human-animal bond is something that has always intrigued me and something that I have seen make true differences in people’s lives,” she said.

Through the WSU Honors College seven-year pre-admit program, Hannah was able to earn her undergraduate degree in animal science and is on track to complete WSU’s veterinary program in seven years.

She said WSU’s supportive culture and knowledgeable faculty, as well as the skills applied from WSU’s communication course series that highlights real-world client interactions in some of veterinary medicine’s most trying moments, have all helped prepare her for her career.

Outside of school, Hannah loves to travel, hike, ski, and cook with her husband, Carlos, family and friends. She also shares her life with Otis, a rescued pitbull/red heeler mix that loves swimming in the Puget Sound. And when it comes to a favorite indulgence? Costco pizza for date night is unbeatable.
