Dr. Fransson is a leader in minimally invasive surgery for small animals, with special expertise in simulation-based training of laparoscopic skills. She serves as director of the Veterinary Applied Laparoscopic Training (VALT) Laboratory and developed the Veterinary Assessment of Laparoscopic Skills (VALS) program to train and assess veterinarians’ hands-on capabilities. She is co-editor, with Dr. Mayhew (UC Davis), of Small Animal Laparoscopy and Thoracoscopy (Wiley), the leading textbook in the field. At the Veterinary Teaching Hospital, Dr. Fransson is the primary surgeon for minimally invasive and interventional procedures.
