Hometown: Big Timber, Montana

Undergraduate Degree: Biotechnology (Montana State University)

Area of Interest: Large/agriculture animal medicine

Growing up on a cattle ranch in Montana, Bailey Bailey knew early on the important role veterinarians play in agriculture. Less than a year from earning her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, Bailey plans to return home to serve beef cattle producers through large animal ambulatory medicine or rural mixed practice after she earns her degree.

“In the face of a shortage of ag animal veterinarians, it is my intention to serve producers, as I know firsthand how much they depend on veterinarians,” Bailey said.

At WSU, Bailey took full advantage of production animal electives such as Herd Production Medicine and Population Theriogenology. She credits her mentor, Dr. Ram (Ramanathan Kasimanickam), for shaping her interest in bovine medicine and providing valuable opportunities. On rotations, Feedlot Medicine and Ag Population Problem-Solving have been especially impactful, and she looks forward to her Advanced Beef Cattle Theriogenology rotation this fall.

When she’s not in class or on rotations, Bailey enjoys helping her family with the ranch they manage, working cows on horseback, or roping in Pullman. She also treasures time with her 8-year-old corgi, Roscoe, and her buckskin quarter horse, Simmon.

Fun Fact: The name Bailey Bailey often gets a double take — it’s the product of being adopted by her stepfather, who coincidentally had the same last name as her first name.
