Biography
Dr. John Gay is an associate professor in the Field Disease Investigation Unit of the Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences, College of Veterinary Medicine, Washington State University and is responsible for epidemiology and herd production medicine. His research interests are in infectious and production diseases of the bovine, in zoonotic diseases related to food safety and in sustainable agriculture. He was raised on his family’s 1,400-head commercial cowcalf ranch and acquired a DVM degree from Washington State University in 1978. He specialized in beef and dairy practice in the northwest for five years before returning to the University of Minnesota to obtain a Ph.D. in veterinary epidemiology and production medicine with economics as an area of special interest.
