Elizabeth Worley’s passion for veterinary medicine is rooted in the bond she has shared with animals throughout her life and an appreciation for the profession’s role in supporting food production and the people who depend on it.
That combination has fueled her interest in mixed-animal practice, particularly working with cattle, pigs, small ruminants, and horses.
“I understand the human-animal bond, and I want to help the animals that have helped me throughout my life,” Elizabeth said.
At Washington State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine, Worley said she’s gained confidence in two skills she knows will shape her career: communication and surgery. Learning how to effectively communicate with clients has prepared her for every interaction she’ll have as a veterinarian, while developing sound surgical techniques has helped build her confidence in the clinic.
After graduation, Worley hopes to join a mixed-animal practice where mentorship is a priority as she begins her career. If she has her way, it will also be somewhere near the water so she can spend her free time paddle boarding.
Outside of the clinic, Worley enjoys reading, cooking, attending concerts, and caring for an impressive collection of about 80 houseplants. Her pride and joy is a pothos plant that stretches more than 15 feet across her ceiling. She also never passes up an opportunity to visit Ferdinand’s for ice cream or explore Pullman’s scenic walking paths.
