Ambassador Spotlight: Natalie Drozdowski

Are you considering WSU’s College of Veterinary Medicine? Our student ambassadors are available to provide insight into our Doctor of Veterinary Medicine program.

Natalie Drozdowski is a third-year veterinary student hailing from Alaska with a passion for small animal medicine. Beyond her academic pursuits, Natalie is eager to connect with fellow students interested in navigating the nuances of student life, the transition to veterinary school, and the unique challenges of moving from out of state.

The WSU veterinary program holds a special place in Natalie’s heart due to the unique community it fosters. Bringing together students from Washington, Utah, and Montana through its regional program, WSU, she said, creates an unparalleled environment.

“WSU ties community and education together in a special way, that you just can’t find anywhere else,” Natalie said.

The Diagnostic Challenge, exclusive to WSU, exemplifies this commitment by uniting campuses and enhancing critical skills crucial for future veterinary careers, she added.

“The Diagnostic Challenge was an impactful experience for me, where I was pushed outside my comfort zone and my clinical knowledge was challenged — it was an invaluable experience that I believe all veterinary students should take part in,” she said.

Natalie’s journey with WSU began during her undergraduate years in Pullman, where she fell in love with the small-town atmosphere. Working in the WSU Veterinary Teaching Hospital’s Anesthesia Department provided her a glimpse into the supportive community, kind staff, and dedicated students that define the College of Veterinary Medicine community.

Natalie loves how the program offers diverse extracurricular activities, and she, herself, holds a Fear Free certification.

Outside the academic realm, Natalie enjoys disc golfing at Sunny Side Park’s 18-hole course and exploring the Snake River on her stand-up paddleboard during warmer months. She actively participates in events organized by WSU and the Pullman community, including trivia nights and roller derby events.

Natalie’s advice for fellow students includes joining clubs, attending extracurriculars, prioritizing self-care, maintaining hobbies, spending time with loved ones, and discovering personalized study habits.
