Why did you choose to attend our program for veterinary school?

When deciding which veterinary school to attend, WSU was a very clear choice for me. I am originally from Kelowna, British Columbia, so going to WSU allowed for me to stay somewhat close to home, and still experience vet school in a brand new place. Furthermore, I had heard nothing but good things about the overall hands-on, clinically-based program at WSU, as well as the many different specializations that I could take on upon graduation. Attending WSU would allow for me to leave my options open, not be constricted to one particular speciality/animal, and gain plenty of valuable clinical experience in fields that I was not able to witness back in my home town. I am truly sure that I will graduate from WSU confident in my skills as a veterinarian, and I cannot wait to see where these next 4 years take me!

What do you think makes our program special or unique?

Building off of why I chose to attend the DVM program at WSU, I was incredibly attracted to the idea of working and developing skills in the Clinical Simulations Center. I believe that by implementing this into the program, it allows for students to gain valuable knowledge about skills that may not necessarily be best developed in a lecture format. When it comes down to important information such as how to scrub and suture, I love how the program allows for me to practice these skills really anytime I want, in an environment that is supportive and helpful. Additionally, I love how the staff at the WSU CVM encourage students to work in the Veterinary Teaching Hospital throughout their degree. As someone who does not have much large or wildlife animal experience, I am beyond excited by the idea of working with these species on WSU’s very own campus.

I like living in Pullman because:

It’s close to everything! Living within walking distance from everything is an absolute dream.
