The Molecular Biology and Genomics Core, co-directed by Drs. Michael Griswold and Derek Pouchnik, provides DNA sequencing, protein sequencing, oligonucleotide synthesis, peptide synthesis, and some information services to members of the WSU Center for Reproductive Biology. The core is housed in the Laboratory for Biotechnology and Bioanalysis.
The core provides all genomics micro-array technology equipment, including access to an Affymetrix Micro-Array apparatus and data analysis system, as well as a custom array apparatus for glass slide array of investigator initiated arrays. It has the bio-informatics support for the procedures performed and assists the investigators in data analysis. Technical support is provided to perform the analysis on the Affymetrix chips and in the production of the custom arrays.
Services and instruments
Sanger DNA sequencing and genotyping (fragment analysis) on our ABI 3730
Two real-time PCR instruments (ABI 7500SDS) are available for qPCR and genotyping applications
The core also runs and maintains two next generation DNA sequencing platforms: the Ion Proton and the Pacific Biosciences Sequel. Library and sample preparation services for these platforms and data acquisition are offered. Some bioinformatics support is available for specific applications.
