Katy Olson misses the mountains back home in western Washington but the Palouse’s rolling hills are a close second.
If you’re looking for Katy, she could be in the Snake River Canyon with her 2-year-old rescue, Goose, watching the sunset. Or she could be putting a royal beatdown on fourth-year veterinary student Kyle Hager on the foosball table (sorry, Kyle). From Edmonds, Washington, Katy is yet another Husky turned soon-to-be-Coug veterinarian. She did her undergrad at the University of Washington, earning her a degree in biology. Goose, a 2-year-old Labrador-mix rescued from a shelter in Othello, is Katy’s only pet. And if it involves backpacking, hiking or adventuring, Katy and Goose are in.
Post-graduation, Katy plans to stick in the Pacific Northwest to work at a small animal general practice. “I’ve always wanted a career that I can take pride in and one that makes a positive impact on the world. Sometimes I don’t know how I got so lucky to end up where I am,” she said.
Fun Fact: Katy is scuba certified
