Jadyn Denham can’t choose between the ocean or the mountains. She couldn’t choose between large and small animals either, which is why she’s in search of a mixed animal practice post-graduation.
Jadyn’s dream to be a veterinarian stems from a deep love for people, animals, science, and medicine.
“I wanted to be part of a career that would allow me to serve and help both people and animals equally,” Jaydn said. “I have always loved science, medicine, and surgery, so veterinary medicine is the perfect career to combine it all.”
Jadyn, already a Washington State University alumna with a degree in animal sciences who hails from Ferndale, Washington, loves the great outdoors and horseback riding, usually with her 23-year-old dapple gray Missouri Fox Trotter named Smoke.
In addition to all the cheeses and ice cream that comes out of Ferdinand’s Ice Cream Shoppe and the WSU Creamery, Jadyn said WSU has given her all the skills to succeed as a practicing veterinarian.
“WSU has provided me with a wide variety of experiences in the classroom, labs, and in the field with many different species that help me feel more prepared for my career. I appreciate WSU’s emphasis on client communication, building community, and hands-on training through labs such as the clinical skills lab and surgery labs, as I believe that these are what provide a solid foundation for all around excellent medicine,” Jadyn said.
Fun fact: Jadyn is a classically trained vocalist and loves singing opera and musical theater.
