Like so many other WSU veterinary students before her, Jamie Krueger adopted the first dog she spayed, but don’t let that or her cats, Whiskey and Willie, fool you on her career interests.
After graduation, Jamie plans to return to Montana, where she completed her undergraduate tenure at Montana State University and will work primarily with horses at an equine-specific clinic.
She’s currently weighing job and internship offers and is particularly interested in equine reproduction and neonates.
“I want to help people, and this is the least gross way I could find to do that,” Jamie said. “I love the opportunity to think on my feet, be challenged, and see the positive impact I can have.”
Raised in North Bend, Washington, Jamie said WSU has provided her the tools and resources to approach a case with a big-picture mindset and address both the patient and client’s needs. She’s also created a network she could lean on in the future.
“My favorite thing about WSU is the close friends I’ve made since I got here, the endless supply of Cougar Gold cheese, and the quality breweries that helped us survive all of our numerous exams,” Jamie said.
Fun Fact: Jamie’s family still makes fun of her for the chickens she raised that started a housefire.
