Area of Interest: Small animal general practice, urgent care, integrative medicine
For Morgan Bigalk, veterinary medicine has always been about more than caring for animals — it’s about supporting the people who love them, too. Morgan’s passionate about small animal general practice with a focus on urgent care, and she hopes to incorporate integrative and rehabilitation medicine into her future clinic.
“As a small animal general practitioner with a willingness to take on urgent care cases, I hope to help bridge the gap between general practice and emergency medicine. I believe well-equipped general practice clinics can stabilize and treat many acute cases — from trauma patients to blocked cats — providing accessible care for families who might not otherwise be able to afford specialty emergency services. At the heart of it, veterinary medicine is about caring for animals, but it’s also about supporting the people who love them,” she said.
Morgan joined WSU through the Honors Pre-Admit 7-year program, combining her undergraduate and veterinary education in a seamless path toward her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. She credits WSU’s mentorship, clubs like VBMA, the practice management rotation, and elective rotations such as Integrative Veterinary Medicine for giving her the skills and confidence to thrive in both clinical and business aspects of veterinary medicine.
Outside the clinic, Morgan enjoys reading, spending time with family, and training her golden retriever, Willow, as a service dog. She’s also a trained dancer with 15 years of experience in styles including classical ballet, which taught her discipline, creativity, and how to perform under pressure — skills she applies in veterinary medicine every day.
After graduation, she’ll return to Milwaukee to join Brookfield Veterinary Wellness and Urgent Care, working alongside a longtime mentor, Dr. Madeline Gluck.
