For Jade Vollmer, becoming a great veterinarian isn’t just about learning medicine – it’s about learning in an environment where questions are encouraged and every experience is an opportunity to grow.
At Washington State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine, Jade says she’s found exactly that. From faculty and staff to residents and interns, she’s been surrounded by mentors who have taken the time to teach while helping her build the confidence to practice high-quality veterinary medicine.
“I believe I’m truly learning how to practice gold standard medicine and how to implement that into real-world practice,” she said.
Jade hopes to return to her home state of Wyoming after graduation to practice mixed-animal medicine, combining her love of caring for dogs, cats, and cattle while incorporating emergency medicine whenever she can.
Her passion for veterinary medicine began long before veterinary school.
“I have never seen it as a job but a passion I genuinely find joy and fulfillment in every day,” she said. “I want to support pet owners and hopefully make a positive difference in their lives and the lives of their pets.”
Outside the classroom, Jade enjoys spending time with her 3-year-old son, camping, paddle boarding, gardening, and reading. She’s also developed an appreciation for bird watching while living in the Palouse, and her backyard chickens are popular among classmates for sharing plenty of fresh eggs.
