Dr. Samantha Gizerian is an associate professor in the Department of Integrative Physiology and Neuroscience and has served as associate dean for undergraduate education in the College of Veterinary Medicine since 2021. She is also the associate director for undergraduate studies in neuroscience.

Dr. Gizerian’s current research focuses on the effective implementation of research-based practices in the classroom by faculty with little or no pedagogical training; student voices in program assessment; techniques for more effective faculty advising practice; supporting underrepresented students in STEM and retaining them through their doctorates; and science outreach and communication to the community. Her past research has examined the links between early life stress and schizophrenia.

During her career, she has received numerous awards and honors for teaching and academic advising, and scholarship and program development.
