Biography

Dr Osoro is a medical doctor and epidemiologist with >10 years of experience in public health capacity building and research programs in Africa. His research is on emerging and zoonotic infectious diseases at community and hospital levels investigating determinants of disease occurrence and distribution. Some of the diseases he studies include brucellosis, influenza, Rift Valley fever, anthrax, Zika, and severe acute respiratory syndrome-coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2). He has extensive experience in the design, community engagement, analysis, and reporting of epidemiological studies.

During the early part of his career, Dr Osoro worked as a doctor in rural and urban public facilities in Kenya where his interest in epidemiology and research was kindled. During the extensive Ebola outbreak in West Africa from 2014-2016, he worked with WHO to support health system recovery.

Dr Osoro serves in various national committees in Kenya that give policy guidance to the government.
