Biography
Dr. Margaret Wild leads the elk hoof disease research team. She has spent her career promoting and protecting the health of wildlife, primarily through the study of emerging infectious diseases. She is currently applying knowledge gained studying chronic wasting disease (a transmissible spongiform encephalopathy of cervids) in elk over the past 3 decades to a new challenge, elk hoof disease. Prior to joining WSU in 2018, she worked for federal and state wildlife management agencies. She is keenly interested in engaging students in collaborations between academia and wildlife agencies to address the most pressing issues managers face addressing diseases in wildlife.
