Jenna Rock loves to prank people. She also has a rubber chicken that she takes on all her adventures. “I take pictures of it with an Instax camera. That always gives me a good laugh,” she said.
A senior in the School for Molecular Biosciences, she hopes to return home to Mason County, Washington after graduation to be a pharmacist and educate the community on drug misinformation.
Where are you from and where did you graduate high school?
I am from Allyn, Washington, and received my high school diploma from North Mason High School.
What’s your favorite thing about WSU?
I grew up in a small town, so even though I moved six hours away when I started at WSU, it didn’t necessarily feel that way. It was extremely easy to make friends with people in the dorms, working on campus (I worked at Flix Cafe), doing research, or just from my classes. I’ve formed friendships that have lasted me a lifetime through WSU which I am incredibly thankful for.
What’s your favorite course you’ve taken at WSU?
My favorite course I’ve taken is the MBioS 413 and 414 (the Biochemistry series). I had Dr. Offerdahl and Dr. Arneson as my professors and they were simply amazing. They made the content fun and relatable to real-life situations, which made things easier to ‘stick’. They made the class feel welcoming and something I looked forward to!
What are your career goals?
My career goal is to become a pharmacist, preferably in Mason County, to help educate and protect my community on drug misinformation.
What’s one of your favorite things?
My favorite thing has to be food-related, and it is French macarons! I recently learned how to make them during quarantine, and they are delicious!
