Hometown: Seattle

Undergraduate Degree: Animal Sciences (WSU)

Area of Interest: Equine

For Greta Langholt, a career in veterinary medicine has been a lifelong goal — one that began with childhood visits to the clinic alongside her dogs, Junebug and Georgia.

“I loved being involved in my pets’ care and wanted to be just like our local vet,” she said.

Over time, that early inspiration grew alongside a passion for science, shaping her path toward equine medicine. It was also fueled by a natural love of horses — including her own, Indigo, a 7-year-old thoroughbred.

After graduation, the Seattle native will begin work at a mixed animal practice in Cheney, Washington, where she looks forward to serving both animals and the people who care for them.

At WSU, Greta said she found both community and an environment that challenged and supported her growth.

“WSU has provided me with the resources to push me not only as a future veterinarian, but as a person,” she said. That experience, combined with hands-on learning and a strong sense of community, helped prepare her for the next step in her career.

Greta says the people are what made her time at WSU especially meaningful.

“My favorite thing about WSU is the community. The Coug community is one of the reasons I chose to go to undergrad here, and I have loved being a part of it,” she said.
