Meet the Class of 2024: Alex Bronson

Alex Bronson has made bonds with her classmates that she hopes will last long after her veterinary school tenure.

“I have made some of the best friends of my life here and we have all been so supportive of each other to help everyone get through vet school in one piece,” Alex said. “I am so glad I got to meet these people and I hope we will stay in contact through all of our careers.”

For Alex, that career will begin shortly after graduation, as a small animal general practitioner at Banfield Pet Hospital in Vancouver, Washington.

Small animal medicine fits Alex. It was her cat, Jape, that inspired her dream to become a veterinarian in the first place.

“I loved my cat growing up and I wanted so badly to work with cats that I decided way back when I was going to be a veterinarian,” Alex said. “I never decided to question that decision.”

At home, Alex has two tuxedo cats: Kima and Essek.

Alex is from Snohomish, Washington, but lived in Hawaii, California, Oregon, and Virginia due to her father’s career in the U.S. Army. She is a musician, playing four instruments (piano, guitar, clarinet, and violin), and she has written more than 20 songs and 50 poems, with some being published.

Alex said she feels confident about her career thanks to the professors at the WSU.

“WSU has provided a lot of excellent teachers to learn from with years of experience and a strong desire to teach,” Alex said. “Their dedication to the students has helped me gain hands-on experience and excellent descriptions of hard-to-learn materials.”

Fun Fact: Alex says playing board games with her friends has helped to make her fourth year of veterinary school better.
