Meet the Class of 2024: Brittni Huffman

Brittni Huffman recently accepted a job at the very practice she worked as a licensed veterinary technician before and during veterinary school – North Cascade Veterinary Hospital in her hometown of Sedro Woolley, Washington.

Brittni said it was her time as a licensed veterinary technician that showed her how much she loved veterinary medicine.

“I wanted to push myself and learn more. Taking a case and starting with the clinical presentation and working through it to get a diagnosis was a great challenge, and being able to help my patients and clients at the same time was incredibly rewarding” she said.

Brittni plans to go on to certify in small animal acupuncture and rehabilitation.

While Brittni is taking the small animal path, she has always been passionate about equine medicine. She worked as the health coordinator for an equine rescue that cared for horses for animal control for three years. She also worked at an equine boarding barn for seven years.

“My favorite animals are horses,” Brittni said. “I got my first horse, Rosie, when I was 10 years old and have been in love ever since.”

Brittni has two horses: Mistie, a 31-year-old Arabian cross, and Holly, a 9-year-old quarter horse. She also has Koda, a 6-year-old German shepherd mix; Tate, a 10-year-old golden retriever; Pudge, a 2-year-old leopard gecko; and Zephyr, a 4-year-old sand boa snake.

Fun Fact: Brittni’s and her family owned and operated a KOA campground near Burlington, Washington, for 18 years.
