Meet the Class of 2024: Elvira Zaripova

If you see Elvira Zaripova around the Veterinary Teaching Hospital, be sure to congratulate her. Elvira is one of 16 students in the Class of 2024 that matched this month through the Veterinary Internship and Residency Match Program.

She will be heading to Boston for a small animal medicine and surgery rotating internship at Angell Animal Medical Center.

Elvira said her favorite things about WSU is the Veterinary Teaching Hospital “because that is where the magic happens.”

Originally from Russia, Elvira completed a master’s degree in special education psychology before attending WSU for veterinary school. While she loves all animals, cats have a special place in her heart.

She has two cats of her own: Maya, an 11-year-old black cat; and Goose, a silly, 2-year-old orange tabby.

When Elvira finds rare spare time away from the clinic and school, she enjoys hiking, swimming, movies, and, of course, hanging with her kitties.

Fun Fact: Elvira was on the swimming team during undergrad.
