From broodmare management to wildlife rehab, as a product of WSU’s regional program in veterinary medicine, Stephanie Scoville has been exposed to about every area of the field.

Like so many others, Stephanie’s career choice was influenced by a childhood idol. In her case, that was “The Crocodile Hunter,” Steve Irwin.

“I wanted to be involved with animal conservation and be an advocate for animals, just like him,” she said.

As a veterinarian, Stephanie is eager to advocate for the health and well-being of all animals, no matter the species.

To see her goal through, Stephanie is moving to Spokane after graduation to work at Medical Lake Animal Hospital, a mixed-animal general practice.

Her 1-year-old black cat, Ruby, will be going with her.

Stephanie is a native Hawaiian from Kailua, Hawaii, who completed her undergraduate degree at Rice University in Houston, Texas.

Fun Fact: At Rice, she taught a semester-long class on Hawaiian history and culture.
