Elle Nesbitt was lucky enough to grow up on a farm and surrounded by a mix of dogs, cats, horses, goats, and chickens. At an early age, that setting sparked a desire to make animals a central part of her life and career.
“Becoming a veterinarian is the perfect avenue for me to be able to combine my passion for animals with my love for medicine, allowing me to make a meaningful impact on the lives of animals and their owners,” Elle said. “I find great fulfillment in advocating for the health and well-being of the animals around me.”
Elle, a Battle Ground, Washington, native, enjoys all facets of veterinary medicine, but she is particularly drawn to equine medicine. After graduation, she plans to attend a one-year equine internship.
Back home, Elle has one horse of her own, a 5-year-old saddlebred named Tripp.
She said she enjoys the small town feel of Pullman, especially half-off tacos at the Red Card Pub. Thanks to WSU’s veterinary program Elle said she feels well prepared for her career.
“WSU’s program exposed me to a lot of what veterinary medicine has to offer through the core curriculum, electives, clubs, and fourth-year rotations. I feel like a well-rounded student ready to take on anything that is to come,” Elle said.
Fun Fact: Elle played collegiate volleyball during her undergraduate tenure at Utah State University and coaches would refuse to high-five her because they knew she was palpating cows beforehand.
