Jessica Bebo’s interest in veterinary medicine began on her family’s beef cattle operation outside Lingle, Wyoming, when she was 3 or 4 years old.
“I always looked forward to days when the veterinarians would come to the feedlot to help us work cattle. I was fascinated by the things the vets were able to do, and I knew I wanted to be able to do those things too,” Jessica said.
Just a few months from earning her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, Jessica has already lined up an internship at Weatherford Equine Medical Center in Weatherford, Texas, and her childhood dream of becoming a large animal veterinarian feels a lot more like reality.
Upon completion of her internship, Jessica, who earned her bachelor’s in animal science at the University of Wyoming before veterinary school, hopes to work primarily as an equine veterinarian, although she would like to incorporate bovine work.
“Working with producers is something I’ve always found to be rewarding,” Jessica said.
Jessica will miss her classmates, mentors, and the Greek eggs benedict at Zoe Coffee and Kitchen, but she’s excited to begin her young career.
“WSU has also allowed me to gain hands-on experience working through cases from start to finish, and the doctors have taken the time during those cases to make sure that I understand why we are making the decisions we are, and this has helped me to become more confident in my own decision making,” she said.
