Meet the Class of 2025: Taylor Veach

Veterinary student Taylor Veach poses next to a horse.

Taylor Veach grew up riding horses and when she earns her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, she plans to give back to the community that helped raise her.

“I have always enjoyed interacting with clients and their horses and truly look forward to getting out into the field after graduation,” Taylor said. “I want to be a veterinarian because it allows me to combine my lifelong love of horses with my interest in medicine and science.”

Taylor plans to focus on reproduction and sports medicine at an equine general practice after her one-year rotating equine internship at Steinbeck Peninsula’s Equine Clinics in Salinas, California.

She said WSU’s large animal elective options during third and fourth year of veterinary school provided the in-clinic experience she needed to begin her career, while client communication simulations equipped her with the soft skills to be a compassionate and empathetic veterinarian.

Taylor will leave Pullman after earning her animal science degree and DVM in just seven years through the WSU Honors College’s accelerated DVM program. She said she will miss her two post-exam celebration spots: Munchy’z and Ferdinand’s.

Back home in Gresham, Oregon, Taylor enjoys riding and training horses. Her other hobbies include weightlifting, hiking, snowshoeing, and frisbee golf.

Taylor has a 12-year-old Portuguese water dog named Charlie and plans to get a horse as soon as she can after graduation.
