Jonah Wisen loves to teach and learn – he once dreamt of becoming a high school teacher.
That passion for teaching and learning was the same driving factor behind his decision to ultimately choose to pursue his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine and become a veterinarian.
“This career is one large cycle of learning the medicine, and sharing that with your colleagues, clients, and community to improve animal and human health and wellness,” Jonah said.
Interested in small animal medicine and surgery, as well as emergency care, Jonah said WSU has prepared him to be a compassionate doctor to his patients and their humans.
“We have a very strong community at the vet school and the importance of teamwork, communication, and respect have been heavily emphasized throughout our curriculum to reinforce that community. I feel that my greatest strength as a doctor will be in how I relate to my clients,” Jonah said.
Jonah is currently looking for a small animal rotating internship at a hospital with surgery and emergency opportunities.
When Jonah isn’t studying, hanging with his wife, Diana, and his calico cat, Millie, he enjoys skiing, mountain biking, or jumping in a basketball or soccer pickup game with his classmates.
Fun Fact: Jonah LOVES soccer. His favorite team is Newcastle, and he will wake up as early as 4 a.m. to watch them play on the weekends.
