WSVMA 2022 awards

Dr. Claude Ragle and Kasey Burton.

The Washington State Veterinary Medical Association has awarded the 2022 WSU Faculty Member of the Year Award to Washington State University clinical instructor Dr. Claude Ragle and the WSU Technician of the Year Award to Kasey Burton.

The faculty award is presented to WSU faculty members who have served members of the WSVMA with distinction. Dr. Ragle is an equine surgeon and was nominated by Dr. Everett Macolmber, past president of the WSVMA and the American Veterinary Medical Association.

Burton, nominated by WSU oncologist Dr. Janean Fidel, has been a licensed veterinary technician in the oncology department at the Veterinary Teaching Hospital for nearly four years.

“She is great with the patients – she watches over them when they are hospitalized and lets us know if she is seeing something that worries her that clinicians or the students may not have noticed,” Dr. Fidel said. “Clients love her, and students consider her a good friend.”
