From Puyallup, Washington, Ty Lewis is pursuing a degree in microbiology and plans to graduate in the summer of 2024. Following graduation, he hopes to work toward a doctorate in immunology.

Dr. Nelson is the lead cardiologist at WSU’s Veterinary Teaching Hospital. She is also passionate about wildlife and works closely with zoos and animal refuge programs to assess the heart health of animals like bears and great apes.

Janelle Thomas will graduate this spring with her DVM. Her primary interest is small animal general practice, but she is dabbling in the idea of continuing her education and pursuing a master’s degree in animal welfare, law and ethics, or law school with an animal law focus.
Biochemistry student Madi Madali has plans to pursue a graduate degree in pharmacy when she graduates this spring.
