Dr. Cynthia Cooper is conducting ground-breaking research in the School of Molecular Biosciences using zebrafish models to learn more about skin pigment diseases like albinism and melanoma and to develop treatments for the conditions.

Peyton Krych is a fourth generation Coug. He is majoring in neuroscience and minoring in math and biology. He will graduate this spring with plans on eventually becoming a physician.
Teri Olson is a licensed veterinary technician in equine surgery at the WSU Veterinary Teaching Hospital. She has helped to care for horses and other large animals while ensuring students receive the best possible training for nearly three decades.
After graduation this May, fourth-year veterinary student Christine Qui is headed back to the mountains for an Emergency Clinician Mentorship Program at MedVet in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Many of the courses I have taken have given insight into what a career as a bioengineer and/or scientist would be like, which has helped to solidify my desire to continue research in academia.
Sophie said she chose WSU’s College of Veterinary Medicine because of the community she experienced while touring the campus.
Associate Professor Jillian Haines graduated from WSU’s College of Veterinary Medicine in 2014. Now back and board-certified in small animal internal medicine, Dr. Haines’ work focuses on canine megaesophagus and platelet function therapy.
Third-year veterinary student Delaney Clem says WSU was not her first choice when she began exploring her opportunities. However, after visiting Pullman, going through the interview process, and meeting students, staff, and faculty, she knew she was destined to be a Coug.
Heather said thanks to her time at Utah State University and Washington State University, she feels prepared for her veterinary career.
