Dr. Viveka Vadyvaloo hopes her research in the Paul G. Allen School for Global Health will lead to unraveling how fleas transmit the bacterial agent of the bubonic plague, which still occurs throughout the world, including in the western areas of the United States.
First-year veterinary student Rebecca Buratto says the Cougar Orientation Leadership Experience (COLE) has been the highlight of her short and ongoing tenure at Washington State University.
Ryan Baumwart joined Washington State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine in May 2020. A full-time cardiology assistant professor at WSU’s Veterinary Teaching Hospital, Dr. Baumwart arrived in Pullman with a vision for advancing animal health through his students.
Only a handful of years ago Matteya Proctor was wrapping up her high school studies in her hometown of Deary, Idaho, where she was one of just 10 seniors in the class of 2020. Now at WSU, she is pursuing a double degree in neuroscience and psychology while gaining invaluable experience assisting in groundbreaking research projects on the brain, aging, and sleep.
Stephen Fawcett is making the most of his time as an undergraduate student at WSU, double majoring in microbiology and Spanish, while also having gained research experience in three labs.
Emily Violini is a fourth-year veterinary student at WSU on track to earn her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine this May.
Troy Mord is a fourth-year veterinary student at WSU and is on track to earn his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine this May.
Medical school is in the plans for Sydney Swatzell when she graduates from WSU this spring. The Spokane, Washington, native and West Valley High School graduate is currently pursuing a degree in neuroscience and specializing in pre-medicine.
Kylie Abaya is a fourth-year veterinary student at WSU and is on track to earn her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine this May.
